The chapters in this book address everything from the fundamental “Write in Complete Sentences” to the nuanced “Make Your Writing Cohere,” with clear tips on how to do so.

McCloskey delivers a thoughtful, fun, and very slim volume, focused on economics writing but also applicable to mccloskwy non-fiction writing. I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in writing or finding writing difficult, even if mccloskej are not economists. A valuable short guide for mastering the craft of academic writing!

Speaking of ludicrous circumlocutions, McCloskey is adamantly opposed to all Latinate vocabulary; therefore I should have apparently written this sentence as follows: Deirdre McCloskey is an adequate writer, which is to say, a better writer than almost all economists.

In these paragraphs McCloskey exhibits the same error of the cognitive science eliminativists, albeit if anything more egregiously. A necessary addition to the writer’s bookshelf, not just for economists.
