Darksiders 1 concentrated on War while Darksiders 2 concentrated on Death with the storylines taking place concurrently. As the narrative unfolds, we learn that Death, being the oldest of the four Horsemen, is privy to a hell of a lot more knowledge about the Nephilim the race the Horsemen belong to, its last survivors than any other person living. As a fan of the Darksiders video games and an even bigger fan of the Darksiders lore, how could I not want to read this book? Is it easy to enjoy without ever having played the game? The concepts and characters are straightforward enough to grasp in one sitting.
The writing itself was so well done that I felt I could smell, feel, hear, see. I enjoyed this book very much and I know I will be rereading it! I really like the story but I hate the writing. War is a heavy hitting bad vaylt and death is a nimble footed assassin type. In this case, however, the answer is “not much. Although most of his behavior felt right, and the sorts of things he said sounded like him, the way he said them didn’t feel right. The vault remains a legacy of the atrocities committed by the Nephilim.
For a novel based on a video game that I have never played, I actually enjoyed this quite a bit.
I was curious if those qualities could be translated into prose. Characters’ voices feel off on occasion. The universe of Darksiders is primed to be vastly expanded. They take offense incredibly easily, and violently. PoV changes make sense and add to the story by providing fore-shadowing or connecting various plot strands, and characters with very different world views read differently.
All-in-all, I truly did enjoy it, minus the lengthy battle scenes. The story blazes along at a fair lick, with action sequence after action sequence – somewhat revealing of the IP’s origins – and this kept my interest.
Strange creatures along with known creatures helped created this strange world. Why did I read this one then? But when something is impossible–it’s impossible.

I hadn’t read any licensed fiction since some of the Drangonlance books in the early nineties, so this was a bit of a leap of faith for me.
Realy great valut Even more. In truth, what I found was better than I feared and no worse than Darksiddrs expected. Create lists, bibliographies and reviews: Not a bad story and it adds to the lore of the games, especially the 2nd in a nice way.
Anything else I liked? The characters or, at least, some of the characters I already knew before reading this – that’s why I picked it up, afterall – and nothing is done here to alter them.
The fatal flaw, however, is darksisers without the support of the games upon which it is based the book cannot stand on its own.
Everyone leaves a trail of their actions. Oh and it is. I wonder if this book would add anything for die-hard Darksiders fans that I, having not played qbomination game, am missing, but I don’t think it truly stands on its own.
